ChangeBASE 5.3 Released

ChangeBASE 5.3 has now been released. Over the past few months, our customers have been asking if we could:
  1. Provide a way for them to incorporate their own application naming standards to the packages listed in ChangeBASE
  2. Group multiple packages under one application name and provide a rolled up RAG
  3. Allow the application identifier name to be assigned via bulk import AND be editable via the GUI
The NEW AppID feature offers all this and will be visible in most reports.
And, with the release of ChangeBASE 5.3 we have delivered this feature request and a few more requirements relating to VMWare and Microsoft's SCCM.

Here is a summary of the changes made in ChangeBASE 5.3

AppID (ChangeBASE Application Identifier) - A new column has been added to the ChangeBASE UI and reports to allow customization of the application name. The AppID field can be edited in the UI. It can be assigned during import of packages or through the UI. A single AppID can be used to represent multiple packages. This better accommodates reporting of applications that contain multiple packages (e.g. Office). In previous versions of ChangeBASE, the separate packages would be reported independently, whereas, in 5.3.0 you can have a combined RAG under one “application” name.

Here’s what it looks like in the Profile Report (look at the column to the left):

Easier SCCM import list revision - ChangeBASE 5.3.0 provides an easier way to manage large numbers of packages from an SCCM database or server. The Export and Import buttons allow you to export the filtered packages/programs into CSV files offline, add the required action flags, view names and AppIDs, and then import the amended CSV file content directly into ChangeBASE.

Here is a quick snap-shot of this new ChangeBASE feature;
Repackaging with Windows 7 VM (32-bit only) - Repackaging is now possible using a Windows 7 32-bit virtual machine. Previously, only XP virtual machines were supported.

Repackaging using VMware Workstation version 9 - Repackaging can now be performed using VMware Workstation version 9. Previously only version 7 was supported. Note that version 8 is not supported.

Support for Virtualization using VMware Workstation version 9 - Virtualization can now be performed using VMware Workstation version 9. Previously only version 7 was supported. Note that version 8 is not supported.
